Eagles fall to LSUA despite Williams' 25-point, 13-rebound effort

LSUA (4-1, 1-1 RRAC) led by three after the first period and just two at the break but took an 11-point lead into the final stanza. The Eagles could get no closer than five points in the last 10-minute period.
Kayla Williams led the Eagles with 25 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out in the final seconds. Jaslyn Woods chipped in 14 points with four rebounds and four assists, but no other Eagle would score more than five.
Four LSUA players reached double digits in scoring, led by Amani Gray with 16 points and six rebounds. Benedetta Peracchi also had 16, Jewel Jones added 11 and Dannah Martin-Hartwi tossed in 10. Raegan Ojoro grabbed 13 rebounds to go with six points and five assists.
LSUA posted a 40-28 advantage on the glass and made twice as many free throws (15-7) as the Eagles, who struggled to shoot 36 percent from the floor, 23 percent from long range and 64 percent from the line.
TAMUT had a nine-point lead midway through the first, but the Generals closed the period on a 12-0 run to take a 14-11 lead. The Eagles pulled back in front by three in the second period (22-19) but LSUA regained the lead with 2:28 to play in the half. The Eagles got to within three points (38-35) midway thru the third, but the Generals responded with a 12-4 run to close the frame.
The Eagles will take a break from conference play to host Arkansas Baptist on Thursday at 5:30 pm, then return to start a four-game conference road trip Thursday, Dec. 14 at Huston-Tillotson.
