Eagles bounce back to defeat Arkansas Baptist, 76-61

The Eagles (3-5) used a 10-0 scoring run late in the first half to open what had been a tie game, then led by as many as 18 points in the fourth before closing the book on the visiting Buffaloes (2-6).
TAMUT used a 41-27 rebounding advantage to help put up a dozen more shots than Arkansas Baptist. The Eagles also connected on six more three-point shots than the Buffaloes, who shot just 20 percent (2-of-10) from deep and 45 percent (9-of-20) from the line.
Kayla Williams – who set career highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds in last weekend's loss to Louisiana Christian – topped both of those numbers with a 27-point, 15-rebound double-double to lead the Eagles. Jaslyn Woods added 16 points and Semaj Adams added 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists after missing the previous two games.
Jessica Nerestant led the Buffaloes with 13 points and eight rebounds while Koko Banks added 10 points and seven assists. Ariel Jefferson also had eight points and six boards.
Thursday's game was the Eagles' last home date for more than a month, as the team will be on the road for their next four contests, starting with a Dec. 14 matchup with Huston-Tillotson in Austin. The next home game for the Eagles is Jan. 11 against Texas College.
