SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana softball team hit the road for a weekend slate of Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) doubleheaders, facing off against Texas A&M University-San Antonio on Friday and the defending national champions, Our Lady of the Lake University, on Saturday. The Eagles split the weekend in San Antonio, sweeping TAMUSA and dropping both games to OLLU to finish 2-2.
TAMUT vs. TAMUSA (Friday)
Game 1: TAMUT 3, TAMUSA 0
In a pitching duel to open the series, TAMUT came out on top with a 3-0 shutout. The Eagles struck first in the fourth inning on a groundout RBI by Grace Cantu. They added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh to secure the win.
Rylee Glenn was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete-game one-hitter with three strikeouts and just one walk.
Freshman Jaquelyn Schmidt paced the offense, going 2-for-3. Kasen Morkisch, Grace Cantu, and Madison Dingman each contributed an RBI in the win.
Game 2: TAMUT 6, TAMUSA 3
The Jaguars battled back in game two, briefly taking a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning. But a late surge by the Eagles—scoring two in the sixth and two more in the seventh—sealed the sweep with a 6-3 victory.
Brooke Usrey and Raylene Zazueta each drove in early runs, while Presley Humphrey and Macey Cutsinger keyed the late rally. Usrey finished the day 4-for-5 with two RBIs, and Dingman added four hits of her own. Morkisch also contributed with a pair of stolen bases.
Morgan Benge earned the win, allowing four hits and three runs over five innings with two strikeouts. Charli Miller came on in relief to close out the final two innings and earn the save.
TAMUT vs. OLLU (Saturday)
Game 1: OLLU 7, TAMUT 2
Facing the No. 10 nationally ranked and defending national champion Saints, the Eagles couldn't keep up in game one. OLLU jumped ahead with a pair of doubles in the early innings and maintained offensive pressure throughout, taking a 7-2 victory.
Baylee Stautzenberger led TAMUT with a solid performance at the plate, going 2-for-3.
Game 2: OLLU 3, TAMUT 1
Game two was a tighter contest, as TAMUT struck first with a Stautzenberger double that drove in a run. However, the Saints responded in the fourth inning with a pair of runs and added another in the fifth to take the game 3-1.
Dingman led the Eagles with a 2-for-3 showing, while Stautzenberger collected the lone RBI.

The Eagles will travel to New Orleans for another RRAC doubleheader, taking on the Gold Nuggets of Xavier University on Friday, April 18. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m., with game two to follow.
