TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's soccer team hosted Texas A&M University–Victoria on Saturday afternoon at Judy Kelley Morgan Field, where the Eagles came out on top with a 3–1 victory over the Jaguars.
The win marked a historic moment for the program, as it was the first time ever in their 10 meetings that the Eagles have defeated A&M–Victoria.
TAMUT got off to a strong start when Gustavo Mendez found the back of the net in the 15th minute, assisted by Damilare Origunloye. After carrying a 1–0 lead into halftime, the Eagles' offense continued to soar in the second half. Diego Picano scored twice—once in the 57th minute and again in the 63rd—to extend the Eagles' advantage to 3–0.
The Jaguars managed to get on the board in the 74th minute with a goal from Baillie O'Reilly, but the Eagles' defense held firm the rest of the way. Goalkeeper Oliver Gregory anchored the back line, recording six saves on the day.
