SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana men's soccer team fell 3-0 on the road to Texas A&M University-San Antonio Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference action.
The Jaguars struck early, converting a penalty kick in the 10th minute to take the lead. The match remained tightly contested until the second half when TAMUSA's Ronald Aguilar notched his second goal of the afternoon in the 69th minute. Less than ten minutes later, Oscar Hernandez added an insurance goal to put the game out of reach.
Despite the scoreline, TAMUT battled throughout the 90 minutes. Diego Picano generated three shots, including one on goal, while goalkeeper Oliver Gregory was kept busy in net, recording eight saves against a relentless Jaguar attack that totaled 31 shots.
The Eagles finished with six corner kicks to TAMUSA's five and matched the Jaguars physically in a contest that saw three yellow cards issued.
With the loss, TAMUT moves to 2-3-4 overall and 1-1 in Red River play. The Eagles will now look to bounce back and regain momentum in their next matchup as they host North American on Thursday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m. on Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
