Men’s Basketball Falls in RRAC Tournament Semifinals
ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's basketball team's postseason run came to an end Friday night with a 71–55 loss to top-seeded LSU Shreveport in the semifinals of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament at Laborde Earles Coliseum.
LSU Shreveport set the tone early, building a 43–28 halftime advantage as the Pilots shot over 60 percent from the floor in the opening period. TAMUT battled defensively but struggled to find consistent rhythm offensively, shooting 33.3 percent in the first half.
The Eagles came out of the locker room with renewed energy, tightening up defensively and holding LSU Shreveport to 33.3 percent shooting in the second half. Despite the improved effort, the Pilots' size and rebounding proved decisive. LSU Shreveport finished with a 49–24 advantage on the glass and outscored TAMUT 30–12 in the paint to maintain control down the stretch.
Daryl Houston led the Eagles with 13 points and five rebounds, while Deovaunta Williams and Jakari Livingston added nine points apiece. Jason Bush Jr. contributed eight points off the bench, and TAMUT forced 21 turnovers, converting those into 14 points.
The loss closes the season for the Eagles, who advanced to the RRAC semifinals and remained competitive throughout conference play against one of the league's top programs.
