Senior Day Thriller Ends in 63–61 Setback for Men’s Basketball
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's basketball team battled to the final possession but fell just short in a 63–61 loss to North American University on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles opened the contest trading baskets with the Stallions, keeping the game within one possession for much of the first half. North American edged ahead 30–27 at the break, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities to maintain a narrow advantage.
TAMUT responded in the second half with improved offensive efficiency, shooting over 44 percent from the field and reclaiming momentum behind strong play in the paint. The Eagles outscored the Stallions 34–33 in the final period and had opportunities late, but North American converted key free throws in the closing moments to secure the two-point decision.
Deovaunta Williams led all scorers with a dominant performance, pouring in 28 points while adding eight rebounds and three assists. Jakari Livingston contributed 10 points and seven rebounds, while Jarren Cook added eight points. Off the bench, Jason Bush Jr. provided a spark with eight points and two blocks.
The Eagles held advantages in points in the paint (26–14) and second-chance points (14–9), but free-throw shooting proved to be the difference as North American finished 20-of-25 from the line.
With the result, TAMUT moves to 17–8 overall and 14–6 in Red River Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles honored their seniors prior to tipoff for their contributions to the program.
Seniors:
