Cook’s Historic Performance Powers Eagles to Win Over OLLU
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's basketball team put together a dominant offensive performance Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 93–66 victory over Our Lady of the Lake in Red River Athletic Conference play at the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles erupted for 40 first-half points and carried that momentum into the locker room with a 40–29 advantage. TAMUT turned up the intensity after the break, scoring 53 second-half points while shooting over 54 percent from the field to pull away.
Jarren Cook delivered a historic performance, pouring in a game-high 41 points while setting a new program record with 13 three-pointers made. With his scoring outburst, Cook also surpassed the 1,000 career points milestone, adding another mark to an already standout season. Deovaunta Williams added 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Daryl Houston recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jakari Livingston chipped in 10 points off the bench to give the Eagles balanced production.
Texas A&M–Texarkana shot 50 percent from the floor and an impressive 50 percent from beyond the arc, finishing 16-of-32 from three-point range. The Eagles also won the rebounding battle 46–27 and totaled 21 assists on 34 made field goals.
The Eagles will be back in action Thursday, January 22, as they host the Steers of Texas College for game two of a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader inside the Patterson Student Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
