Men’s Basketball Bounces Back in Conference Play with Victory Over Texas A&M–San Antonio
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's basketball team turned in a strong all-around performance Wednesday night, pulling away in the second half to secure a 76–62 Red River Athletic Conference victory over Texas A&M–San Antonio at the Patterson Student Center.
After a tightly contested first half, TAMUT took a slim 36–34 lead into the break before erupting for 40 second-half points. The Eagles' defensive pressure fueled the run, as they forced turnovers and converted them into 20 points on the offensive end.
Jakari Livingston paced the Eagles with 16 points off the bench, shooting an efficient 7-of-10 from the floor. Deovaunta Williams added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Daryl Houston recorded a well-rounded performance with 11 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Jason Bush Jr. provided a spark inside, finishing with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
Texas A&M–Texarkana dominated the paint, outscoring the Jaguars 34–18 inside and finishing with a 24–10 advantage in bench points. The Eagles also held Texas A&M–San Antonio to just 31.5 percent shooting for the game.
With the win, TAMUT continues to build momentum as conference play moves forward.
The Eagles will be back in action Saturday against Our Lady of the Lake inside the Patterson Student Center, with tip-off set for 3 p.m.
