Houston’s Double-Double Powers Men's Basketball Past UNT Dallas
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's basketball team delivered a complete performance Thursday night, earning a decisive 78–62 victory over UNT Dallas in Red River Athletic Conference action at the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles set the tone early, building a 32–26 halftime advantage behind strong defensive pressure and control on the glass. TAMUT turned up the intensity in the second half, outscoring the Trailblazers 46–36 to pull away and secure the home win.
Daryl Houston powered the Eagles with a dominant double-double, pouring in 22 points while grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds. Deovaunta Williams added 16 points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Daniel Vieira-Tuck contributed 14 points to give TAMUT balanced scoring across the lineup.
Texas A&M–Texarkana capitalized on hustle plays throughout the game, holding a significant edge in second-chance points and points off turnovers. The Eagles also went a strong 24-of-30 from the free-throw line, converting key opportunities to maintain control down the stretch.
With the victory, TAMUT improved to 7–3 overall and 5–1 in conference play, continuing its strong start to the RRAC season.
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, December 20, when they host the University of the Southwest at the Patterson Student Center. Tip-off for the men's game is scheduled for 3 p.m., following the women's contest.
