Commanding Overtime Victory Lifts Men's Basketball Past Generals
ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's basketball team earned a commanding 99–90 overtime victory on the road over LSU Alexandria, Saturday afternoon at The Fort.
The Eagles battled through a tightly contested first half, trading runs before taking a narrow 37–35 lead into the break. LSU Alexandria responded with a strong second half to force overtime, but TAMUT seized control in the extra period, outscoring the Generals 20–11 to secure the win.
Deovaunta Williams delivered a standout performance, leading all scorers with 30 points while knocking down six three-pointers and adding five steals in 41 minutes of action. Daniel Vieira-Tuck followed with 17 points, while Jarren Cook contributed 16 points and seven rebounds.
Key bench contributions helped swing momentum late, as Jakari Livingston poured in 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting and Daryl Houston added eight rebounds and six assists. The Eagles finished with 21 bench points and forced 22 LSU Alexandria turnovers, turning them into 18 points.
TAMUT shot 75 percent from the free-throw line in the second half and overtime combined, providing crucial points down the stretch to pull away. The Eagles also matched the Generals on the glass in overtime while tightening defensively when it mattered most.
With the victory, Men's Basketball improves to 6–3 overall and 4–1 in RRAC play. The Eagles return home on Thursday, December 18, for a conference doubleheader at the Patterson Student Center. The men's game is scheduled to tip off at approximately 7:30 p.m., following the women's contest.
