Balanced Attack Leads Men's Basketball to Commanding 87–55 Victory at LCU
PINEVILLE, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's basketball team put together one of its most complete performances of the season last night, powering past Louisiana Christian University 87–55 to earn their third Red River Athletic Conference victory of the year.
The Eagles wasted no time seizing control, delivering an explosive first half on both ends of the floor. TAMUT shot 51.9% from the field before the break—highlighted by 45.5% shooting from beyond the arc—while limiting the Wildcats to just 20 points on 21.4% shooting. The dominant opening frame sent the Eagles into halftime with a 41–20 advantage.
The Eagles only tightened its grip in the second half, erupting for 46 more points on 61.3% shooting and finishing the night at an impressive 56.9% overall. TAMUT's defensive pressure forced 16 turnovers, converting them into 25 points, and the Eagles controlled the interior with a 38–16 advantage in points in the paint.
Jarren Cook paced the Eagles with 18 points on an efficient 7-of-13 shooting night, drilling four three-pointers and adding two assists. Deovaunta Williams delivered another well-rounded outing, posting 16 points, six rebounds, and a team-high seven assists while knocking down all four of his free throws.
Off the bench, Daniel Vieira-Tuck provided a major spark with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting to go with four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Jyrin Sowell anchored the interior with eight points and six boards, while PJ Harris added eight points in just seven minutes, knocking down both of his attempts from three.
Alex Orr and Daryl Houston chipped in six points each, combining for nine rebounds and five assists, and Kaden Keal filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, three points, and two assists.
With the win, A&M–Texarkana improved to 5–3 on the season and 3–1 in RRAC play, continuing to build momentum as December conference action heats up.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, December 13, when they travel to Alexandria to take on LSU Alexandria at The Fort. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
