Women's Cross Country Earns 2nd at RRAC Championships
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's cross country team hosted the Red River Athletic Conference Championship this morning on their home course. The Eagles competed against runners from Our Lady of the Lake, UNT-Dallas, Southwest, and Xavier in the 6-kilometer race.
Senior Zalenka Brannan led the way for the Eagles, setting a new personal record (PR) with a time of 23:10.68 to finish fourth overall and earn a spot on the RRAC All-Conference Team.
Sophomore Kayla Reeves followed closely behind, also setting a PR of 23:57.99 to place sixth, securing her own All-Conference honor.
Junior Dana Ruiz rounded out the top-10 finishers for A&M-Texarkana, crossing the line in 25:32.00 for ninth place and the Eagles' third All-Conference selection.
Junior Priscila Quintanilla Sarmiento posted a new PR of 25:44.44 to finish 11th, while freshman Landy Canto capped off the Eagles' lineup with a PR of 27:11.12, placing 17th.
With four personal records on the day, the Eagles earned an impressive second-place team finish, falling only to Our Lady of the Lake.
