Women’s Cross Country Earns Runner-Up Finish at Topper Trails Classic
BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's cross country team turned in another strong performance at the Topper Trails College Classic hosted by Blue Mountain Christian University on September 27. The Eagles lined up against 10 teams and 54 runners on the challenging 5K course.
Zalenka Brannan led the way for the Eagles, finishing 3rd overall with a time of 19:52.94. Close behind was Kayla Reeves in 4th at 20:14.75, followed by Dana Ruiz in 7th at 21:05.65. Rounding out the scoring for A&M–Texarkana were Priscila Quintanilla Sarmiento (26th, 23:16.58) and Landy Canto (36th, 25:23.28), giving the Eagles three finishers inside the top 10.
As a team, the Eagles secured a 2nd-place overall finish with an average time of 21:58.64, trailing only the host, Blue Mountain Christian University.
The women's team will be back in action on October 10 at the Tiger Classic, hosted by Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
