Multiple Podium Finishes for Women’s Track & Field at the Ole Miss Classic
OXFORD, Miss. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's outdoor track & field team turned in a strong showing against a deep field of competition at the Ole Miss Classic, competing against programs from NCAA Division I through the NAIA.
The Eagles were highlighted by a first-place finish from Damaria Bell, who captured the women's 100-meter hurdles title with a time of 14.46. Bell also added a top-10 finish in the 400-meter hurdles, placing ninth with a time of 1:09.66.
TAMUT recorded multiple podium finishes in the field events, highlighted by Vinae Edwards and Janiya Ross. Edwards placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.19 meters, securing an automatic bid to NAIA Nationals and moving into No. 2 in the nation. Ross also earned a third-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters.
The Eagles also had a strong presence in the jumps overall, with Ja'Kouria Jamerson placing 14th in the long jump (5.45m) and 13th in the high jump (1.45m), while Edwards added an 18th-place finish in the long jump (5.24m).
In the throws, Ava Ferreira led the way with a 10th-place finish in the discus, recording a personal-best throw of 38.94 meters. She also placed 15th in the hammer throw (37.12m). Teegan Roach added a 17th-place finish in the hammer, while R'Naziah Johnson competed in both the hammer and discus.
On the track, J'Layah Spellman-Collins recorded a personal best in the 200 meters, clocking a 25.33 to place 18th. Chukwudera Emeh also posted a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.18, in addition to competing in the 200.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Bell, Spellman-Collins, Jamerson, and Emeh placed seventh overall with a time of 48.62.
Distance runner Kayla Reeves turned in a pair of solid performances, placing ninth in the 3000 meters (11:18.55) and recording a personal best in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:01.06.
Additional contributions came from Elliana Edwards in the 400-meter hurdles and Adara Adesanya in the shot put as the Eagles continued to build momentum early in the outdoor season.

The Eagles will look to carry that momentum into their next meet as the outdoor season continues, traveling to Nacogdoches, Texas to compete in the Carl Knight Multis/Invite on April 2–3.
