Women’s Track & Field Posts Multiple Top Finishes at Ouachita Invitational
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's track & field team turned in a strong performance at the Ouachita Invitational, held March 13–14 and hosted by Ouachita Baptist University. The Eagles recorded several top finishes across both field and track events, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the triple jump and a podium finish in the 4x100-meter relay.
Competition began Friday with the hammer throw, where Ava Ferreira led the Eagles with a fourth-place mark of 35.68 meters, while Teegan Roach added a ninth-place finish at 34.43 meters.
Texas A&M–Texarkana continued to build momentum on Saturday, starting with a standout performance from Vinae Edwards, who earned second place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.31 meters.
On the track, the Eagles produced multiple top-five finishes. J'layahn Spellman-Collins placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.79, while the 400-meter hurdles duo of Ja'Kouria Jamerson and Damaria Bell finished fourth (1:08.84) and fifth (1:08.67) respectively.
The Eagles also found success in the sprint events, as Chukwudera Emeh recorded a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 26.21.
Texas A&M–Texarkana closed the meet with a podium finish in the 4x100-meter relay, as Bell, Spellman-Collins, Jamerson, and Emeh combined for a third-place time of 48.52.
