EDMOND, Okla. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's tennis team delivered a pair of dominant performances, sweeping Bethany College and Southwestern College by identical 7–0 scores.
Against Bethany, the Eagles controlled the match from the start, sweeping doubles to secure the opening point. Ana Gonzalez and Zahra Dreyer-Ferreira earned a 6–1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Kristin Major and Lucia Siddens followed with a 6–1 victory at No. 2. Andrea Castillo and Maryam Awais completed the doubles sweep with a 6–2 decision at No. 3.
TAMUT continued its strong play in singles, winning all six matches in straight sets. Gonzalez led the way at No. 1 singles with a 6–0, 6–0 victory, while Dreyer-Ferreira added a 6–1, 6–0 win at No. 2. Siddens (6–1, 6–1), Castillo (6–1, 6–3), Major (6–4, 6–1), and Awais (6–0, 6–1) each secured straight-set victories to complete the shutout.
The Eagles followed with another 7–0 sweep against Southwestern. Gonzalez and Dreyer-Ferreira opened doubles with a dominant 6–0 win at No. 1, while Major and Siddens matched that scoreline at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles court was decided by default to give TAMUT the point.
Singles play continued the Eagles' momentum, as TAMUT did not drop a single game across five completed matches. Gonzalez, Dreyer-Ferreira, Siddens, Castillo, and Awais each earned 6–0, 6–0 victories, while the No. 6 singles point was awarded by default to complete the team sweep.
With the pair of wins, the Eagles continued to build momentum as they move deeper into the spring schedule.
Women's Tennis will return to action on the road in Mobile, taking on Bethel University, University of Mobile, and Doane University at the Mobile Tennis Center on March 10–11.
