Women's Tennis Closes Out Impressive Homestand with 6–1 Victory
TEXARKANA, Texas- The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance, defeating Freed-Hardeman University 6–1 in commanding fashion.
The Eagles set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Ana Gonzalez and Lucia Siddens rolled to a 6–1 victory. Emmanouela Besi and Maryam Awais followed with a 6–4 win at No. 2, while Adrianne Guangko and Andrea Castillo sealed the sweep with a 6–3 decision at No. 3.
Carrying that momentum into singles play, TAMUT controlled the match from top to bottom.
Ana Gonzalez was sharp at No. 1 singles, earning a 6–1, 6–4 straight-set win. Lucia Siddens picked up the victory at No. 2, while Emmanouela Besi (6–1, 6–2), Andrea Castillo (6–2, 6–1), Maryam Awais (6–3, 6–0), and Adrianne Guangko (6–1, 6–3) each secured convincing straight-set wins to close out the match.
The comprehensive victory highlighted the Eagles' balance and consistency throughout the lineup, as TAMUT claimed six of seven points and controlled every phase of play from start to finish.
The Eagles return to action on Friday, February 26 and Saturday Febraury 27th for a road match series against John Brown University, Blue Mountain Christian, and Rust in Little Rock, Arkansas.
