Women's Tennis Received National Recognition in Season's First Poll
TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's tennis program is earning national attention, receiving votes in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Poll. The recognition marks an early milestone for first-year head coach Brian Nelson, who has quickly elevated the program's competitive edge with a talented and energized roster.
The Eagles turned heads during an impressive fall slate that featured matchups against high-level competition, then retooled the lineup with additional newcomers for the spring push. TAMUT is off to a perfect 3–0 start, opening the season with a hard-fought victory over the College of Idaho, followed by a decisive 5–2 win against Christian Brothers University.
They carried that momentum into a marquee matchup yesterday afternoon, securing a nationally ranked win over the No. 25 Pilots of Louisiana State University Shreveport — a statement result that further strengthens what is shaping up to be a promising spring campaign.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Keiser (Fla.) claimed first place in the first regular-season NAIA Women's Tennis poll with 300 points and 11 first-place votes.
Behind the Seahawks, there was significant upward movement throughout the top 10. Southeastern (Fla.) recorded one of the biggest moves near the top, rising four places from No. 8 to No. 4.
SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) and Xavier (La.) each moved up, landing at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. Holy Cross (Ind.) made one of the largest jumps inside the top 10, climbing four spots from No. 13 to No. 9.
The next women's tennis poll is slated for February 25.

Poll Methodology
- The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.
- A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.
- The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system:
- 30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.
- The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.
- Teams receiving only one point are not listed as "receiving votes."
- For the Preseason Poll, there is no "previous ranking" column since it is the initial poll and differs from the prior rating system.
