SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's soccer team continued their hot start to conference play with a dominant 4-0 victory over Texas A&M University-San Antonio on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles wasted no time taking control as Desiree Narvaez found the back of the net in the 8th minute to give TAMUT the early lead. Narvaez would strike again in the 27th minute, doubling the advantage and putting the Eagles firmly in command. Freshman Ziah Zackry added to the first-half barrage with a goal in the 34th minute, sending Texarkana into halftime up 3-0.
The Eagles kept their foot on the gas coming out of the break, as Narvaez completed her hat trick in the 49th minute off an assist from Ava Axtle. From there, the TAMUT defense took care of the rest, shutting out the Jaguars and limiting them to just six total shots.
Texarkana outshot TAMUSA 23-6 on the day, with 12 shots on target compared to none for the Jaguars. Goalkeeper Layla Anaya earned the win in net while the Eagles posted their seventh victory of the season.
The win moves TAMUT to 7-1-1 overall and 2-0 in Red River play. The Eagles will look to keep the momentum rolling in their next matchup on October 2 at 5 p.m. against North American at home on Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
