Women’s Golf Battles to 7th-Place Finish in Hobbs

HOBBS, N.M. – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women's golf team competed in the Battle in the Desert, hosted by Red River Athletic Conference rival University of the Southwest, on September 29-30.

The Eagles battled against a strong field, finishing 7th overall with a combined score of 1024 (+160).

Leading the way for A&M-Texarkana was Liberty Thomson, who posted rounds of 85, 77, and 88 to finish at 250 (+34), tying for 32nd overall. Ella Dieter followed close behind with a 253 (+37), placing 36th.

Additional scores for the Eagles included:

• Anna Anglen – 91, 82, 82 (255, +39), T-37th

• Jalee Sampley – 89, 90, 89 (268, +52), T-45th

• Lainee McMillon – 99, 89, 88 (276, +60), 48th

Up next, the Eagles will head to Hot Springs, Ark., to compete in the Battle for the Belt, hosted by Henderson State at Hot Springs Country Club on October 12-13.
