Vogt Elevated to Head Women's Basketball Coach at Texas A&M University-Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Texas - Texas A&M University-Texarkana Athletics has announced the promotion of Mary Chris "MC" Vogt to the position of Head Women's Basketball Coach.

Vogt, who served as the Eagles' Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator during the 2025-26 season under Deacon Jones, assumes leadership of the program as A&M-Texarkana prepares for its transition to NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference. She becomes the first female head coach in program history after helping guide the Eagles to a 20-10 record last season.

"MC has been an integral part of our program, and we believe maintaining continuity while building on last season's success positions us well for the future. She has earned this opportunity through her leadership, work ethic, and commitment to our student-athletes. We are confident she is ready to lead her own program and continue moving the needle for Women's Basketball as we build a championship culture and prepare for NCAA Division II competition."

Vogt joined the Eagles after spending 10 seasons at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL), where she served as an assistant coach and the Chief of Staff/Director of Operations for Women's Basketball. Throughout her tenure, she coached guards and hybrid players while helping lead the Ragin' Cajuns to a 168-132 overall record, including a 100-73 mark in Sun Belt Conference play.

During her time in Lafayette, the Ragin' Cajuns captured the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Regular Season and West Division Championships, earned a berth in the 2021 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), and claimed back-to-back Women's Basketball Invitational championships in 2016 and 2017. The program also produced two Sun Belt Defensive Players of the Year, a Newcomer of the Year, a Freshman of the Year, 16 All-Sun Belt selections, and six 1,000-point scorers during her tenure.

In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Vogt oversaw numerous administrative areas, serving as the program's liaison for strength and conditioning, athletic training, academics, equipment, student managers, facilities and game management, budgeting, and team travel.

Prior to ULL, Vogt spent five seasons on Hall of Fame coach Gary Blair's staff at Texas A&M University from 2010-15. She served as a camp coach specializing in guard development while also working as the program's camp coordinator, assistant video coordinator, and in recruiting support.

Vogt was a member of the Aggies' coaching staff that captured the 2011 NCAA National Championship with a 76-70 victory over Notre Dame in Indianapolis. During her time in College Station, Texas A&M also made multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, including Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen runs, and won the 2013 SEC Tournament Championship.

A native of Carrollton, Texas, Vogt is a 2015 graduate of Texas A&M University where she earned bachelor's degrees in kinesiology and sport management and minored in coaching and international/cultural management.
