Women's Basketball Powers Past LSUA, 70-56
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team turned in a complete performance Thursday evening, defeating LSU Alexandria 70–56 in Red River Athletic Conference action inside the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles set the tone early, jumping out to a 19–12 lead after the opening quarter and extending the advantage to 38–21 at halftime behind efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure. TAMUT limited the Generals to just 21 first-half points while forcing turnovers and controlling the tempo.
LSU Alexandria attempted to rally in the second half, but the Eagles answered each push, maintaining control with balanced scoring and timely stops. TAMUT finished with a 39–41 rebounding battle and capitalized on turnovers, converting 27 points off 19 LSU Alexandria miscues.
Imani Rothschild led the Eagles with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding 10 rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Breyionce George added 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Eleionna Brown contributed 12 points off the bench. Chioma Treasure Emeh filled the stat sheet with seven points, seven rebounds, and six assists, and Chi'onne Dailey chipped in eight points and three assists.
With the win, Texas A&M–Texarkana continues to build momentum in conference play as the Eagles defend their home court.
The Eagles will be back in action this Saturday at home inside the Patterson Student Center, hosting the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
