TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team continued its strong run in Red River Athletic Conference play Thursday evening, earning an 81–57 victory over Texas College inside the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles set the tone early, opening the game with a 17–10 first quarter before extending the lead to 37–28 at halftime behind balanced scoring and consistent defensive pressure. TAMUT pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Steers 44–29 over the final two quarters to secure the win.
Texas A&M–Texarkana controlled the glass throughout the night, finishing with a 47–38 rebounding advantage and generating 22 second-chance points. The Eagles also capitalized on turnovers, converting 27 points off 37 Texas College miscues.
Chi'onne Dailey led the Eagles with 15 points while going a solid 11-for-13 from the free-throw line. Breyionce George added 12 points and six rebounds, while Taralyn Sweeney chipped in 11 points off the bench. Demetria Smith contributed nine points and three steals, and Chioma Treasure Emeh added six points, six rebounds, and three assists.
With the win, Texas A&M–Texarkana improves to 10–3 in conference play as RRAC action continues.
The Eagles will take a break this weekend due to incoming inclement weather but will return to the court next week at home versus LSU Alexandria.
