Women’s Basketball Earns Home Win Over OLLU
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team delivered a wire-to-wire performance Saturday afternoon, rolling past Our Lady of the Lake 78–62 in Red River Athletic Conference action inside the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles set the tone early, opening the game on a 20–9 first quarter and never looking back. TAMUT continued to apply pressure in the second period, extending the lead to 40–22 at halftime behind efficient shooting and control of the glass.
Texas A&M–Texarkana maintained its momentum coming out of the break, pouring in 23 points in the third quarter to push the advantage to 63–37. Despite a late push from the Saints in the fourth, the Eagles remained in control and closed out the victory.
Chi'onne Dailey led the Eagles with 15 points while adding four rebounds and two assists. Chioma Treasure Emeh followed with an efficient 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Unique McBride added 10 points and two assists off the bench. Nailah Zetrenne recorded a strong all-around outing with eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.
TAMUT finished with a 42–25 rebounding advantage, including 18 offensive boards, and outscored Our Lady of the Lake 21–9 in second-chance points. The Eagles also forced 16 turnovers and converted them into 21 points.
Women's Basketball will be back in action this Thursday, January 22nd as they host the Steers of Texas College in a RRAC doubleheader. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
