TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana women's basketball team closed out the 2025 calendar year in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon, rolling past the University of the Southwest, 78–54, inside the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles set the tone early, jumping out to an 18–12 first-quarter advantage before maintaining steady control throughout the game. TAMUT continued to apply pressure on both ends of the floor, outscoring Southwest in every quarter and pulling away in the fourth with a 23–10 run to seal the victory.
Breyionce George led the Eagles with a strong all-around performance, finishing with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to secure a double-double. Imani Rothschild added nine points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Demetria Smith added eight points on 4-of-7 shooting. TAMUT also received balanced contributions throughout the lineup, with 10 different players finding the scoring column.
A&M–Texarkana dominated the interior, holding a commanding edge in points in the paint and second-chance opportunities. The Eagles' defense forced 26 turnovers, converting them into 40 points, while the bench provided a major spark with 35 points.
With the win, Women's Basketball improves to 7–5 overall and 6–1 in Red River Athletic Conference play, heading into the holiday break with momentum sitting at third place in the RRAC standings.
