ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana — After playing to a tie in the first period of Saturday's conference game, A&M-Texarkana was unable to keep pace with LSU-Alexandria during the middle quarters and fell 61-49, the Eagles' third consecutive loss.
The Eagles (9-9 overall, 6-6 RRAC) shot a woeful 29.8 percent from the floor despite 23 points and 12 rebounds from Kayla Williams. TAMUT had no scoring contribution from the bench, which combined to miss all seven shots it took. The Eagles made just 17-of-57 shots as a team. Jaslyn Woods was the only other player to reach double figures with 11 points.
Three players from LSUA (14-4, 11-2) hit double figures, led by Blair Smith, who pumped in 15 off the bench, Jewel Jones added 13 and Benedetta Peracchi had 11. The Generals finished 23-of-58 from the field (39.7 percent).
The Eagles have a busy week at home starting with LSU-Shreveport on Tuesday, Huston-Tillotson on Thursday, and wrapping up with Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday.
