AUSTIN, Texas — A&M-Texarkana's women fought through a rough shooting night to outlast Huston-Tillotson for a 53-45 conference win Thursday on the road. The Eagles (4-5 overall, 1-2 RRAC) outscored the previously unbeaten Rams 35-17 in the second half and 21-10 in the fourth period. HTU (5-1, 3-1) was held to just 21 percent shooting in the second half.
Semaj Adams led the Eagles with 15 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists. Jaslyn Woods and Quren Santiago each added 11 points. Kayla Williams had seven rebounds but struggled to score six points on 2-of-12 shooting.
Dyana Offutt led the Rams with 14 points to go with six rebounds, Tyaija Cleman had seven points and 10 rebounds, and Anessa Dussette had nine points and four rebounds. The Rams made just 17-of-59 shots (28.8 percent) from the floor and 2-of-21 from long range.
The Eagles shot just 32 percent in the first half and fell behind 28-18 at halftime. TAMUT would finish 19-of-56 (33.9 percent) for the game and just 1-of-17 from behind the arc. The Eagles scored 23 points off turnovers and outscored the Rams 30-18 inside the paint.
The Eagles are on to San Antonio on Saturday to play Our Lady of the Lake at 2 pm.
