PLAINVIEW, Texas — The A&M-Texarkana women's basketball team continues to try to find its stride, falling to 0-3 in the process after Friday's 97-57 loss to Wayland Baptist in the 2023 Queens Classic.
Quren Santiago scored a team-high 14 for the Eagles (0-3) and Kayla Williams added 10 points to go with nine rebounds, but the host team was too much to handle as TAMUT fell behind 31-11 after just one period and faced a 59-27 deficit entering the break.
The Eagles managed to shoot just 32 percent (20-of-63) from the floor and 17 percent (4-of-23) from long range. Wayland Baptist led by as many as 43 early in the fourth, shot 50 percent from the floor and 53 percent (16-of-30) from behind the arc to put the game away early.
Semaj Adams had nine rebounds for the Eagles and Brianna Richardson added five points and three steals off the bench.
