Eagles Dominate at Louisiana Christian Invitational, Open Season with Perfect 4-0 Sweep
LECOMPTE, La. – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana softball team opened the 2025 season with a dominant showing at the Louisiana Christian Invitational, sweeping all four games and outscoring their opponents 40-6.
Game 1: A&M-Texarkana 10, McPherson 1
The Eagles struck first in the bottom of the second when Briana DeLeon's single drove in a run, followed by a McPherson error that allowed two more to score. TAMUT extended its lead in the third with a Grace Cantu double to center and another RBI single by DeLeon.
Alexis Snyder delivered a strong performance on the mound, allowing just four hits and one run over five innings while striking out six. The Eagles racked up 14 hits, with Kasen Morkisch, Madison Dingman, and DeLeon each collecting three. Dingman also stole three bases as TAMUT cruised to a 10-1 win in five innings.
Game 2: A&M-Texarkana 18, Central Christian 3
The Eagles' bats stayed hot in their second game, as Dingman opened the scoring with a triple to center in the first inning. TAMUT exploded in the second, scoring eight runs on six hits, including a home run by Presley Humphrey. A similar offensive surge followed in the third, with seven more runs on four hits, highlighted by another home run from Humphrey.
The Eagles totaled 12 hits, with Kaitlyn Cabral, Morkisch, Humphrey, and Dingman each collecting two. TAMUT secured the 18-3 victory in five innings.
Game 3: A&M-Texarkana 9, Webber International 1
Day two of the invitational opened with TAMUT facing Webber International. The Warriors struck first in the top of the first inning on an Eagles error, but TAMUT responded immediately, capitalizing on a Webber error to take a 4-1 lead.
The Eagles added to their advantage in the third and fifth innings, both times on home runs to left field by Raylene Zazueta. Rylee Glenn started on the mound, allowing five hits and one unearned run over five innings while striking out five. Zazueta and Dingman each had three hits, and Cantu added two in the 9-1 win.
Game 4: A&M-Texarkana 3, William Woods 1
The Eagles closed out the tournament against William Woods in their most competitive game of the weekend. Both teams recorded five hits and no errors, but TAMUT held on to complete the four-game sweep.
Snyder was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete game and allowing just one run on five hits over seven innings while striking out eight and walking two. Baylee Stautzenberger, Jaquelyn Schmidt, and Macey Cutsinger each drove in a run to secure the 3-1 victory.

The Eagles return to Lecompte next weekend for another tournament at Champions Park, hosted by LSU-Alexandria. They will open play against Texas Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7.
