Kiptoo Name Freshman of the Year, Men's Cross Country Places 2nd at RRAC Championships
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana men's cross country team hosted the Red River Athletic Conference Championship this morning on their home course, facing a competitive field of 36 runners from Our Lady of the Lake, UNT-Dallas, Southwest, and Xavier University in an 8-kilometer showdown.
Junior Levi Wagner led the Eagles with a stellar performance, setting a new personal record (PR) of 24:53.06 to finish third overall. His strong showing earned him a spot on the RRAC Men's Cross Country All-Conference Team.
Freshman Gideon Kiptoo was the next Eagle to cross the finish line, clocking a new PR of 25:18.97 to place fifth overall. Kiptoo's impressive debut season was capped off with two major honors — he was named the RRAC Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Year and joined Wagner on the All-Conference Team.
Junior Chapman White followed close behind, also setting a PR with a time of 25:24.05 to finish sixth overall, rounding out the top-10 finishers for the Eagles and earning a spot on the All-Conference Team.
Terrance Toliver II finished 11th with a PR of 25:46.83, while Graycen Vargo clocked in at 26:35.39 (PR) to take 13th, rounding out the Eagles' top five scorers.
Faizone Ogendo (14th, 26:57.79, PR) and Elyk Williams (17th, 27:14.64, PR) also turned in strong performances to complete the team's lineup.
With every runner setting a new personal best, the Eagles claimed a second-place team finish, coming in just behind Our Lady of the Lake.
