FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A&M-Texarkana senior Charles Dorsett III clocked the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season and finished with a silver medal Friday in the Men's 800 meters at the Arkansas Invitational.
The senior from Fort Worth finished with a time of 1:51.25, less than a half second behind the winning runner from UT-Arlington and two full seconds in front of third place. His time trails only Payton Mauldin of Dordt (IA), who has a time of 1:50.29 during the 2023-24 season.
Dorsett was one of just three runners from TAMUT to compete at the Arkansas indoor meet, joining freshmen Zalenka Brannan (Whitesboro, Tex.) and Texarkana native Daniela Hernandez (Texas High).
Brannan finished 26th in the Women's 800 meters with a time of 2:27.10. Her time is almost three seconds off her personal best of 2:24.45, which she set in December during the JD Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla. Hernandez competed in the Women's 3000 meters but posted a DNF (did not finish).
