Erikewe Claims 400m Hurdles Title as Men's Track & Field Shines at the Ouachita Invitational
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's track & field team delivered an impressive showing at the Ouachita Invitational, hosted by Ouachita Baptist University on March 13–14. The Eagles recorded multiple podium finishes, highlighted by victories in the 4x100-meter relay and the 400-meter hurdles.
Action began Friday in the hammer throw, where Maurice Williams led the Eagles with a ninth-place mark of 38.02 meters. Kolton Lybrand and Dorian Pruitt each recorded throws of 34.26 meters to finish 11th and 12th, while Durrel Darden added a 16th-place mark of 30.63 meters.
Texas A&M–Texarkana found success in the field events on Saturday as Darlington Onsarigo earned second place in the triple jump with a leap of 13.83 meters, followed closely by Dexter Lockett, who finished third at 13.75 meters.
On the track, the Eagles turned in a dominant performance in the 4x100-meter relay, as Jeffrey Legrand, Giovani Jean-Pierre, Jayden Erikewe, and Desroy Jordan combined for a first-place finish with a time of 41.57.
TAMUT also showcased its sprint depth in the 100 meters, where Giovani Jean-Pierre placed third in 10.76, Desroy Jordan finished fourth in 10.80, and Jeffrey Legrand took fifth in 10.90.
Highlighting the meet for the Eagles was Jayden Erikewe, who captured first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.62, a mark that currently ranks No. 1 in the NAIA this season.
