SHREVEPORT, La. – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's tennis team put together a hard-fought effort against No. 12 Dillard University, falling 4-2 at a neutral site match in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The Eagles faced a tough challenge in doubles play, dropping the point despite a competitive showing. The duo of Lucas Yamaguti and Fedir Zalievskyi were locked in a tight battle at the No. 2 position before the match went unfinished, while Dillard secured wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to claim the early advantage.
In singles action, TAMUT responded with resilience, picking up two strong victories. Matias Peñaranda delivered an impressive comeback at the No. 3 spot, rallying after dropping the first set to win in three (3-6, 7-5, 6-2). Marc Gonzalez Molina followed with a gritty performance at No. 4 singles, also securing a three-set victory (6-3, 4-6, 6-0).
Despite the momentum, Dillard proved why it holds a top-15 national ranking, claiming straight-set wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
