Men’s Tennis Battles No. 10 Our Lady of the Lake on the Road

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas A&M–Texarkana men's tennis team battled against No. 10 Our Lady of the Lake on the road but ultimately fell 6-1 on the afternoon.

The Eagles opened the match by earning the doubles point with a 2-1 advantage. The duo of Alvaro Tormo Lopez and Lawson Swain secured a 6-4 victory on court three, while Lucas Yamaguti and Fedir Zalievskyi pushed their match to a tight tiebreak on court two before narrowly falling 7-6 (12-10). Matias Penaranda and Jose Rodrigues were defeated 6-2 on court one.

In singles play, the Saints claimed five of the six matches to seal the team victory. Jose Rodrigues provided the lone point for A&M–Texarkana with a hard-fought three-set win at No. 5 singles, defeating Corentin Fusaro 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4).

Fedir Zalievskyi forced a decisive third set on court three after taking the opening set 6-3, but eventually fell 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Matias Penaranda also pushed his match to three sets at No. 4 singles before dropping a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 decision.

At the top of the lineup, Sebastian Romanos fell 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Marc Gonzalez Molina dropped a 7-5, 6-2 match on court two. On court six, Lucas Yamaguti battled back to force a match tiebreak after winning the second set 6-2 but was edged 10-7 in the deciding breaker.
