TEXARKANA, Texas- The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's tennis team earned a commanding 6–1 victory over Freed-Hardeman University, showcasing depth and control throughout the lineup.
The Eagles opened the day by sweeping doubles play to secure the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, Matias Penaranda and Jose Rodrigues set the tone with a dominant 6–0 win. Lucas Yamaguti and Fedir Zalievskyi followed with a 6–1 decision at No. 2, while Alvaro Tormo Lopez and Lawson Swain capped the sweep with a 6–4 victory at No. 3.
In singles action, TAMUT continued its strong play across the courts. Sebastian Romanos battled to a 7–5, 7–5 win at No. 1 singles, while Penaranda (6–2, 6–3), Zalievskyi (6–3, 6–4), Rodrigues (6–1, 6–3), and Yamaguti (6–4, 6–0) each earned straight-set victories to secure the team win. Lawson Swain pushed his No. 6 singles match to a third-set tiebreak in a hard-fought contest.
With the victory, the Eagles claimed six of seven points and controlled both doubles and singles play from start to finish.
The Eagles return to action on Friday, February 26 and Saturday Febraury 27th for a road match series against John Brown University, Blue Mountain Christian, and Rust in Little Rock, Arkansas.
