Texarkana, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Texarkana men's soccer team battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Wiley University on Saturday evening at Judy Kelley Morgan Soccer Field.
The Eagles struck first midway through the opening half when Diego Picano buried a penalty kick in the 25th minute to give TAMUT the early edge. Despite continued offensive pressure—A&M-Texarkana outshot Wiley 19-15 and held a commanding 14-4 advantage in corner kicks—the Eagles were unable to add to their lead.
Wiley pulled even in the 51st minute as Anthony Ulloa finished unassisted to level the match at 1-1. Both teams created chances down the stretch, but neither side could break through.
Goalkeeper David Yearwood was stellar between the posts for the Eagles, recording eight saves while facing nine shots on goal.
The result moves Texarkana to 1-2-3 on the season. The Eagles will look to build momentum when they return to action Saturday, September 20, against Paul Quinn College.
