Men’s Golf Soars with Double Eagle Highlight at Bethany Classic
NEWTON, Kan. — The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's golf team took on a deep and competitive field at the Bethany College Classic, finishing fifth out of 13 teams with a three-round total of 917 (+53). The Eagles' performance came against a tournament lineup that featured four nationally ranked programs.
Rylen Caldwell led the way for TAMUT with an outstanding showing, placing fifth individually with a 219 (+3). Caldwell set the tone early with an even-par opening round and maintained steady play across all three rounds to secure a top-five finish.
Ishraaq Anis turned in a solid performance with a 17th-place finish at 228 (+12), while JJ Walsh placed 25th overall with a 232 (+16). Jax Stovall (246, +30) and Ayden Haskins (248, +32) completed the team scoring for the Eagles.
Halston Baca, competing as an individual, finished 60th with a score of 257 (+41).
As a team, the Eagles showcased their ability to generate scoring opportunities throughout the tournament. TAMUT recorded 10 birdies in both the first and third rounds and highlighted the second round with nine birdies and two eagles (Caldwell & Stovall).
