Men's Golf Earns Top-Five Finish at Claud Jacobs Invitational
VICTORIA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's golf team opened its spring season at the Claud Jacobs Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M University–Victoria on February 16–17 at Victoria Country Club.
The tournament featured a highly competitive 13-team field, including NJCAA No. 7 Weatherford, No. 11 Blinn, No. 19 New Mexico Military Institute, NAIA No. 16 Texas Wesleyan, and No. 49 Texas A&M–Victoria. The Eagles delivered a strong performance, finishing tied for fifth overall at the invitational.
Leading the way for Texas A&M–Texarkana was Rylen Caldwell, who shot +5 over three rounds to finish tied for 13th overall. Jax Stovall followed, tying for 22nd place at +8. Ishraaq Anis finished tied for 35th at +15, while JJ Walsh tied for 44th overall at +18. Halson Baca carded a +30 to finish tied for 63rd. Competing as an individual, Ayden Haskins posted a +26 to secure a 56th-place finish.
The Eagles' rounds were highlighted by two eagles — one by Walsh and one by Stovall — along with strong birdie production throughout the tournament, totaling 10 in Round 1, 15 in Round 2, and 18 in Round 3.
Up next, the Eagles will host the first-ever Eagle Invitational at Texarkana Country Club on March 16–17.
