Houston Sets Rebounding Record as Men's Basketball Rolls Past the Steers
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana men's basketball team put together a complete performance Thursday night, rolling to a 98–75 Red River Athletic Conference victory over Texas College at the Patterson Student Center.
The Eagles jumped out to an early advantage, building a 45–31 halftime lead behind aggressive defense and efficient scoring. TAMUT carried that momentum into the second half, pouring in 53 points after the break to pull away.
Jakari Livingston led the Eagles with 21 points off the bench, shooting 8-of-15 from the field. Rodney Mason II followed with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Jarren Cook added 18 points. Daryl Houston turned in a historic performance on the glass, recording 12 points and a program-record 20 rebounds to set a new single-game school mark, anchoring the Eagles' interior presence on both ends of the floor.
Texas A&M–Texarkana dominated the paint, outscoring Texas College 58–16 inside, and held a 52–37 rebounding advantage. The Eagles also forced 20 turnovers and converted them into 26 points while finishing with 19 assists as a team.
With the win, TAMUT improves to 9–4 in RRAC play and continues to build momentum as conference competition moves forward.
The Eagles will return to action Monday, January 26, hosting Arkansas Baptist for a non-conference matchup inside the Patterson Student Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
