Eagles Start Season off on a Winning Note

Men's Basketball defeated the Crusaders of Dallas Christian College in their home opener of the 2024-25 season Thursday night. First year Head Coach, Darion Brown would record his first career win with a 76-50 victory over the Crusaders. 

Going into the half the Eagles held onto the lead by 2 points, after a good free throw by Junior Daryl Houston. The Eagles would come out of halftime with intensity and would outscore the Crusaders 41-17 in the second half. 

The Eagles would shoot 53% from the field which gave them the edge over their opponent as the Crusaders shot only 26%. 

The Eagles were led in scoring by Senior Deovaunta Williams with 14 points, Senior Justin Davis and Sophomore Doreante Tucker would both add 10 points each for the Eagles. Davis would also lead all rebounders with 9 rebounds and Sophomore Payton Chism would lead both teams in assists with 4. 

The Eagles start off their season 1-0 after Thursday's win, and will be back in action on Saturday, November 9^th at home versus the Rams of Texas Wesleyan. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm at the Patterson Student Center on Texas A&M University- Texarkana campus.
