SHREVEPORT, La. — Texas A&M University-Texarkana baseball went on the road and opened its series against No. 4 LSU Shreveport with a statement win before dropping the final two games of the weekend.
The Eagles grabbed momentum in Game 1 with an 8-5 victory over the nationally ranked Pilots. Offensively, Austin Kerns powered the lineup, finishing with five RBIs, including a two-run home run and a clutch three-run double in the eighth inning. Ahmar Donatto also delivered a big swing with a three-run home run, while Matthew Hart set the tone on the mound with six no-hit innings. Brayden Clark closed it out with 2.2 scoreless frames to secure the win.
LSU Shreveport responded in Game 2, taking an 8-1 decision. Donatto accounted for the Eagles' lone run with a solo home run, while the pitching staff worked through a tough lineup in a midweek-style defensive battle.
In Sunday's finale, the Eagles showed fight throughout before falling 9-5 in a back-and-forth contest. TAMUT was powered by a massive grand slam from Colton Wombles, giving the Eagles an early lead, and continued production at the plate from Landon West, who tallied three hits in the game. LSU Shreveport answered late to pull away and take the series.
The Eagles finished the weekend with a signature win over a top-5 opponent and multiple standout offensive performances, continuing to show resilience against one of the nation's best. Baseball will be back in action on the road in Conway, Arkansas as they take on the Mustangs of Central Baptist College. First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday April, 14th at 12 p.m.
