HAWKINS, Texas – Texas A&M University–Texarkana baseball turned in one of its most complete performances of the season, erupting for 64 runs in a four-game road sweep of Jarvis Christian University.
The Eagles overwhelmed the Bulldogs 64-12 across the series, piling up 61 hits, swiping 23 bases, and receiving consistent production on the mound.
"Offensively we are getting back to our normal selves, so that was fun to see," head coach said following the sweep. "Brandon Sheets and Mikey Caputo were huge all weekend, so was Landon West."
Game 1: TAMUT 18, Jarvis Christian 4
After allowing three early runs, the Eagles responded immediately and never trailed again.
Sheets delivered a perfect 4-for-4 performance with a home run, double, and three RBI to highlight an 18-run outburst. He ignited a four-run second inning with a two-run blast before Martin followed with a two-run single to seize control.
Jones, West, and Bogue fueled a five-run sixth as TAMUT finished with 19 hits. Brady earned the win with six innings of work, allowing just two earned runs and striking out five. Ruehle struck out three in a scoreless inning to close it out.
Game 2: TAMUT 15, Jarvis Christian 2
The offense carried its momentum into game two.
Jones tallied four hits, while Duncan drove in four runs and earned the win on the mound, tossing six strong innings and surrendering just one run. The Eagles collected 17 hits and stole five bases, maintaining constant pressure to complete the Friday sweep.
Game 3: TAMUT 21, Jarvis Christian 6
Saturday's opener featured early fireworks as Caputo crushed a three-run homer in the first inning and finished with four RBI in a 21-run performance.
After briefly falling behind in the third, TAMUT answered decisively. A seven-run seventh inning broke the contest open before the Eagles added eight more in the eighth. The offense showed discipline with 13 walks and aggressiveness on the bases with 10 stolen bags.
Game 4: TAMUT 10, Jarvis Christian 0
The finale belonged to the Eagles from the outset.
TAMUT plated seven runs in the first inning and rolled to a 10-0 shutout. West and Ramirez combined for six RBI, and the defense was flawless, committing no errors.
Hart picked up the win in a two-inning start, while Santos and Chappell combined out of the bullpen to preserve the shutout.
"We got quality starts on the mound for the most part all weekend, and that's been the difference in our season right now," the coach said. "Our entire pitching staff has stepped up huge lately."
That depth proved critical, as the staff limited Jarvis Christian to just 12 total runs over four games.
The weekend also highlighted defensive versatility.
"I was so proud of Keaton Bogue stepping up to play shortstop for us with guys out, a position he's never played before," the coach added. "Evan Havreluk was great there for us also."
With the sweep, TAMUT improves to 11-12 overall and 3-3 in Red River Athletic Conference play. The Eagles return to action Tuesday, March 3, traveling to face the Wildcats of Wiley University in a single nine-inning contest. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
