LEWISTON, Idaho – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana baseball team faced a tough early-season test on the road, taking on No. 21 Lewis-Clark State College in a four-game series at Harris Field. Despite flashes offensively and solid moments on the mound, the Eagles were unable to slow the Warriors' momentum, dropping the weekend set.
Game 1: No. 21 Lewis-Clark State 11, Texas A&M–Texarkana 0
The Eagles opened the series looking to settle in early but ran into a hot Warrior lineup that plated runs in four different innings.
Texas A&M–Texarkana showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with CJ Richard reaching base three times and Ahmar Donatto and Jayce Blalock recording hits. However, timely hits proved elusive as the Eagles finished with just two knocks.
On the mound, Camden Gamble made the start before Ty Thomerson, Braeden McNamee, and Jeb Drewery combined in relief. Drewery provided a bright spot, tossing two scoreless innings to close the game.
Game 2: No. 21 Lewis-Clark State 8, Texas A&M–Texarkana 2
Game two saw the Eagles break through offensively, highlighted by a sixth-inning push.
Colton Wombles led the way with a two-hit performance, while James Provencio and Austin Kerns each drove in a run. CJ Richard added a hit and two walks as TAMUT looked to build momentum late.
Connor Brady delivered a solid start, working five innings and allowing just two runs while striking out three. The Warriors, however, capitalized in the later frames to pull away.
Game 3: No. 21 Lewis-Clark State 12, Texas A&M–Texarkana 0
The second game of Friday's doubleheader proved challenging as Lewis-Clark State struck early and often.
Ahmar Donatto collected two hits to lead the Eagles, with CJ Richard, James Provencio, and Jayce Blalock adding one apiece.
Colton Sims got the start before Tanner Duncan, Remi Rountree, and Brayden Clark saw action in relief. Duncan logged three innings and struck out three, while Clark closed the game with a scoreless frame.
Game 4: No. 21 Lewis-Clark State 12, Texas A&M–Texarkana 0
In the series finale, the Eagles looked to salvage the weekend but faced another strong offensive showing from the Warriors.
Donatto recorded TAMUT's lone hit, while the Eagles' pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts. Matthew Hart started the contest, with Alejandro Santos III, Thomas Ruehle, Bobby Bangs, Harrison Barnett, Ty Thomerson, and Austin Duffy all appearing in relief as the staff worked to manage innings across the long series.
Texas A&M–Texarkana will look to regroup and apply lessons from the road trip as the Eagles return home to open conference play on February 20–21 with a three-game series against LSU Alexandria. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on Friday.
