Baseball Takes Down No. 4 Hope International in Thrilling 26 Run Victory
TEXARKANA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–Texarkana baseball team closed out the Diamond Bank Invitational with a statement victory Tuesday morning, defeating No. 4 nationally ranked Hope International in a high-scoring showdown at Hooks High School.

The Eagles wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for six runs in the bottom of the first inning to seize early momentum.
After the Royals plated the opening run, TAMUT responded immediately with a flurry of offense. RBI hits from Jayce Blalock, James Provencio, Michael Caputo, and CJ Richard highlighted the inning as the Eagles surged in front.
Hope International answered with a three-run home run in the second to trim the deficit, but the Eagles continued to swing it with confidence. Caputo delivered one of the biggest swings of the day later in the inning, launching a three-run home run to extend the lead and keep the momentum in TAMUT's dugout.
The Eagles broke the game open in the middle innings, highlighted by a massive fourth frame. Richard connected on a two-run homer, Austin Kerns drove in a pair with a double, and Brayden Sheets added a three-run blast as TAMUT piled on to stretch the advantage.
Despite multiple pushes from the nationally ranked Royals, the Eagles never relinquished control. TAMUT continued to add insurance runs down the stretch behind timely hits from Kerns, Caputo, and Provencio to secure the marquee win.
Caputo led the Eagles offensively with six RBIs, while Kerns added five RBIs on three hits. Provencio finished with four RBIs, Sheets drove in four, and Richard paced the top of the order with a home run and three RBIs. Blalock set the table throughout the contest, scoring six runs.
On the mound, Ty Thomerson earned the win in relief, providing stability through the middle innings as the Eagles held off the Royals' offense.

The Eagles return to action Friday, February 6, at the Cajun Collision in Sterlington, Louisiana. First pitch for their opening game is set for 11 a.m.
