STERLINGTON, Louisiana — A&M-Texarkana secured its place in the RRAC Championship game with an 8-7 walk-off win Saturday over Louisiana Christian at the Sterlington Sports Complex. Trailing by a run in the ninth, TJ Krause tied the game on a run-scoring single, then later scored on a bases loaded walk to end the game, setting up Sunday evening's showdown with regular season champion LSU-Shreveport.
The championship game is scheduled for 5 pm. The Eagles need just one win to claim the tournament title and NAIA national tournament berth. A loss would set up a winner-take-all game on Monday.
Krause had a huge day for the Eagles (25-24), adding a home run, double and three RBIs to his single in the ninth. Luke Hyzdu also had three hits and drove in two. Julian Macias was the third player to put together three hits as the Eagles finished with a dozen hits. Hunter Reid doubled and tripled.
Oscar Sanchez pitched seven strong innings, striking out eight while allowing just three runs and six hits, but did not get a decision. Reid pitched the final 1.2 innings to pick up his first win.
The Eagles fell behind 3-0 before putting up a five spot in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead. LCU scored twice in the eighth and twice in the ninth to take a 7-6 lead before the Eagles walked off with the win.
