Eagles take series from Xavier, now third in RRAC standings

A&M-Texarkana put together a solid all-around performance Sunday to not only claim a conference series win over visiting Xavier, but take sole possession of third place in the Red River Athletic Conference with a 9-3 win at Dobson Field.
The Eagles (20-23 overall, 17-10 RRAC) will host Louisiana Christian for a three-game series Friday and Saturday to close out the regular season prior to heading into the RRAC Championship from May 2-5 in Sterlington, La.

GAME NOTES
• Gage Mason improved to 3-3 on the bump with a strong seven-inning outing that included five strikeouts while giving up just six hits, two earned runs and one walk. Nathan Hunter tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief.
• The Eagles peppered Xavier pitching for 13 hits, including three hits from TJ Krause and two each from Julian Macias, Jarren Lewis, and Brandon Riley. Gabe Baker and Shraedon Naeole-Starkey each stole a base.
• Xavier also committed four errors, helping the Eagles score once in the first, three in the second, three in the fourth, and one run in the seventh and eighth innings.
