ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas — A&M-Texarkana took advantage of an opportunity to get playing time for a long list of team members during a 14-3 non-conference loss at Ouachita Baptist on Wednesday. The Eagles fell to 10-13 overall, snapping a four-game win streak.
A total of 12 players had at least one at bat and five different pitchers saw action on the mound during OBU's run-rule victory. The Eagles managed just four hits in the contest while the hosts put up two runs in the first inning then scored three runs in each of the next four frames.
The Eagles trailed 8-0 before finally getting on the board in the fifth with a run-scoring single by Brandon Riley, then Freddie Madera walked with the bases full to bring Jonathan Rios across. Luke Hyzdu added an RBI single in the seventh to round out the scoring for TAMUT.
Hyzdu and Riley each had one hit, along with Hunter Reid and a pinch-hit single by Gabe Baker. Dylan Cabral (3-4) was tagged with the loss, allowing six hits and five earned runs in just two innings of work. Nathan Hunter, Anthony Galindo, Grant Sanders and Clayton Merritt each threw an inning of relief.
