A&M-Texarkana finished off a three-game series sweep of Texas College on Monday, hammering the Steers for 11 hits in a 12-2 win at Dobson Field. The Eagles (10-12 overall, 7-5 RRAC) outscored Texas College by a 34-5 margin over the three games.
Hunter Reid had three hits and drove in three runs, Luke Hyzdu had two hits and three RBIs, and TJ Krause also collected a pair of hits for the Eagles, who led 8-0 after three innings and 11-1 after five before the game was called after seven frames.
Blake Taylor (2-1) picked up his second win of the year with a five-inning outing that included five strikeouts and just one earned run. Matthew Slowik shut the door on Texas College with 1.1 scoreless and hitless innings of relief, striking out two.
The Eagles had four hits for multiple bases, including a home run by Hyzdu – his first of the season – and doubles by Hyzdu, Dakota Leopold and Elvis Park. The team struck out just once in 44 plate appearances and drew 10 walks.
TAMUT takes a short break from conference play Wednesday, traveling to Arkadelphia, Ark. to take on Ouachita Baptist in a single game, scheduled for a 3 pm start.
