Eagles claim series win despite falling in Saturday's finale

HOBBS, New Mexico — A&M-Texarkana fell just short of a series sweep of University of Southwest, but still managed to claim the series win despite Saturday's 8-7 loss in New Mexico.
The Eagles (6-9 overall, 4-2 RRAC) rallied from a 6-0 deficit in Saturday's contest to tie the game in the sixth but were unable to recover once the Mustangs reclaimed a lead in the late innings.
Hunter Reid tripled and drove in a run, and seven different hitters each had a hit apiece. TJ Krause scored twice, and TJ Hughes drove in a pair of runs. Adam Garren, Brandon Riley and Pudge Carlisle also collected an RBI each.
Blake Taylor started on the mound, throwing four innings with six hits, six earned runs and three strikeouts. Anthony Galindo (0-2) took the loss, allowing two runs in relief.
The Eagles are home this weekend for a big conference series against No. 5 LSU-Shreveport. Game 1 is Friday at 2 pm and Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 pm, all games played at Dobson Field.
